Employment Unit Outreach Efforts
The Employment Unit completed the following outreach activities during the reporting period covered by this report:
1. Job Fairs. A Station Representative participated in two area Job Fairs held by local Universities in October 2008 and in November 2008.
2. Event Sponsored by Educational Institution. Station on-air talent participated in thirteen programs sponsored by educational institutions to discuss weather, careers in broadcasting and employment opportunities with the Station. These visits took place throughout the school year and included schools in Erie and Crawford Counties.
3. Internship Program. The Station hired four interns to work in the news department from various local Universities in exchange for school credit.
4. Event Designed to Disseminate Information about Broadcast Careers. Station management conducted nine Station tours for journalism students from local high schools and Universities throughout the school year.
5. Event Designed to Disseminate Information about Broadcast Careers. Four individuals from local high schools and Universities participated in the news department's two day job shadow program during the school year. Attendees learned about careers in news and about internship and employment opportunities with the Station.
The Employment Unit completed the required number of outreach activities over the relevant two-year period.
